The presidential race isn’t the only important race on your ballot in November. Whatever your issues – environment, healthcare, 2nd amendment, housing, LGBTQIA+ rights, racial justice, jobs and minimum wage, immigration, student debt, voting rights, open primaries, community/police relations, or access for people with disabilities – you’ll find candidates who address them at the state and local levels.

For the October meeting (10/18) we selected Master Slave Husband Wife. An Epic Journey from Slavery to Freedom by Ilyon Woo (This book won the Pulitzer in 2024). There are several available copies in the library. The Wall Street Journal calls it "A narrative of such courage and resourcefulness it seems too dashing to be true. But it is. . . . The story is so richly dramatic, and Ms. Woo so skilled at spinning it out, that at times it’s a genuine nail-biter."
