The workbook includes recommendations from the Nominating Committee, Budget Committee, and a Treasurer's Report, and other information on matters that will come up for votes.  It also includes annual reports from many of our active committees.

LWV Advocacy
LWVUS Declares that the United States is in a Constitutional Crisis

"The foundational principles that have sustained our democracy — checks and balances, the rule of law, free and fair elections — are under direct and sustained threat. In this extraordinary moment, we cannot proceed with business as usual. All Americans — no matter who you voted for in 2024 — need to come together, stand united, and fight back to save our democracy. We cannot afford to fail the generations to come.”

Call to Action:

Oppose the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
LWVUS, LWVPA, and LWVPGH ask all League members and the public to contact their US Senators and ask them to vote “NO” on the SAVE Act. The US House of Representatives passed this bill on April 10, 2025. Now it is in the Senate for consideration.

The SAVE Act

  • would require in-person citizenship documentation to register to vote, putting an unfunded burden on all county elections offices

  • would exclude millions of eligible citizens from registering to vote if they don't have passports, access to their birth certificates, or if those documents do not reflect their name following a name change if their married name does not match their birth certificate name.

  • would effectively end online voter registration and mail-in voting

  • would limit voter registration efforts by nonprofits like the LWV

  • would require military voters, and any other voter who moves, to present documentation every time they re-register to vote due to a move

What Is It and What Can We Do About It?"

Fires, storms and floods are on the news all the time. The climate is changing and it is impacting humans and natural habitats alike. However, the solutions to the crisis are also real.

By being conscious of the food we eat, how we dispose of our waste, and what energy source powers our home, we can each be part of the fix. Supporting measures on regenerative agriculture and land conservation can improve our capacity to mitigate climate change. Learn how nature can be harnessed to absorb carbon, cool our communities, and improve our lives in the process.

Our speaker, Sarada Sangameswaran, is the Board President of the Mount Lebanon Nature Conservancy, faculty at CCAC, and the former Education Director of the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.
